It says in the diary that the book was 50 years old,and now that the half blood prince is abviously snape,is he really 50 years old?He is like 30 or 40 or something...if snape was fifty, then lily, sirius, and james would have to be 50. If they were all fifty, harry must have had to be 20 years old or something in the 5th book. This doesn't all make sense, maybe it was a mathematical mistake?
I think you're confused about the books. The diary was 50 years old, yes, but I don't think it ever says how old Snape's copy of Advanced Potion Making (which he annotated) actually is. Granted, it's pretty old, being that battered, but it's possible that it was a hand-me-down from Snape's mother (who was a champion potion maker, I believe), and he felt the need to write all over it to correct it. Snape was 38 when he died, he was the same age as James and Lily and in the same year. I think he was given the book as a hand-me-down as his family was quite poor as well so possibly couldn't afford a new copy for him anyway.
So no, he's not 50, it's fine! I think your confusion lies around how old his potions book was, so I hope I haven't just confused you more. :)

I'm sure it wasn't a mathematical mistake or J.k Rowling wouldn't have emphasized the book being 50 years old much. Just because the book was 50 years old doesn't mean Severus was or his classmates. Like harry picked up the 50 year old book, doesn't make him fifty. It was just passed on with bad condition, and he received it. So there is my guess. Hope I helped.
